But first, let’s understand what makes a hosting good or bad?
PBN Hosting / SEO Hosting
There are a bunch of hosting companies available out there that brands themselves as SEO or PBN hosting company.
The main focus of these hosting plans is the PBN owners who want to host their PBN sites safely and do not want to face a hassle in managing all of the websites.
These types of hosting are relatively new, and nowadays, they are getting popular.
They are also built by the hosting provider on your behalf only. And all you have to do is add your websites to their account. This prevents you from falling into the trap of managing and hosting a website.
Back in the days, this kind of hosting plan used to be a good practice to consider. But in today’s time, you better avoid it. Here is why?
Footprints
- Google knows the Existence of such PBN Hosting Websites.
Setup / Management
- The good part of SEO hosting is that they are easy to manage.
- You will be able to manage all your websites from a single account only.
- You will get a list of different nameservers, and IP’s that you can use.
- There will be only one company whom you have to contact for all the issues.
- You will only have to contact one hosting provider if you face any issues.
- Easy bill payments.
- Easy to keep track.
Pricing
They are pretty expensive. PBN hosting can cost you about $1.2 to $7 per month for each IP address.
Relatively cheap compared to the popular hosting plans. You will only have to pay a couple of dollars each month for one website.
Are They Good?
Yes, they are highly recommended for PBN sites. Also, they have zero footprints, which are the main concern when it comes to managing or creating a private blogging network.
You can check my article about PBN Hosting Reviews & SEO Hosting Reviews to have a piece of more detailed knowledge about it.
Reseller Hosting
Reseller Hosting is sort of a web hosting where you have the ability to use your storage and resources to host websites on behalf of third parties. This is good if you have quite a lot of websites to manage or simply want to start a hosting business.
And when it comes to PBN hosting, it involves purchasing a reseller hosting account and getting an additional IP address for each of your websites. And this is the same thing that you can do with the dedicated servers.
Footprints
- Reseller hosting offers the same nameservers for all of your websites.
- The IP addresses are owned by the same company.
- Mostly, you will get recycled IP addresses from the ex-customers who were using their servers previously.
Setup / Management
- Setting up a reseller can be extremely easy or hard. It completely depends on the provider.
- You will be able to manage all of your websites from a single account.
- You will only need to contact one company if you face any issues.
- Easy to manage your bill payments.
Drawback
- You will need to use a DNS manager.
Pricing
Reseller hosting can be expensive as well as well priced. It completely depends on which reseller web hosting you are choosing. For example, Namecheap’s basic reseller hosting costs $18.88/mo.
Are They Good?
A bit inexpensive compared to the SEO hosting. But they are pretty bad when it comes to hosting a private blogging network. So do avoid this.
Cheap Shared Hosting
Cheap shared hosting is one of the best options for the private blogging network. And the best part is that there are multiple options that are available out there. Even, you can purchase shared hosting for as low as $1 per month, which is super cheap compared to the expensive hosting plans.
Footprints
- Nameservers are unique for every web host and every website.
- IP addresses are owned by different companies.
- IP addresses are only shared with real legit websites.
Drawback
- There might be some extremely bad neighborhood websites used for PBN with whom you do not want to associate with which can affect on PBN Quality.
Setup / Management
- Easy to setup.
- Hosting companies might disappear without giving you any backups. (Choose a reliable hosting company only.)
- You have to make payments to multiple websites and manually, which is a bit tough.
- Extremely hard to track all the websites. However, you can use a spreadsheet to manage everything.
- Cheap hosting does not offer you a reliable uptime and speed.
- You might have to install WordPress manually. Even some web hosting companies might not have support
Pricing
They are super cheap. And you can get a hosting plan for around $1 to $5 per month. However, I would recommend you to choose a reliable hosting company.
Are They Good?
Yes, they are good. Only if you are choosing a reliable hosting company. Else, your website might get vanished, and you will not even get notified about it.
Reverse Proxy Services like Cloudflare
A service that offers you IP Addresses that masks what web server you are using. And Cloudflare is one of the top proxy services used by PBN builders.
Footprints
- All IP addresses owned by the same company.
- Same nameservers (If you set up incorrectly).
- Same nameserver owners.
Setup / Management
- It takes a couple of minutes to set up each domain. Also, you will need existing hosting, which is not CPanel.
- Quick and easy setup process.
- There is no need to touch your setup again once you are done with all the steps.
Drawbacks
- You will need to create a new Cloudflare account for each domain.
- You will need to set up hosting separately.
- Real IP Addresses where Blog is hosted can be traced easily.
Pricing
Using Cloudflare is free unless you do not need extra features. However, you will still need to pay for hosting.
Are They Good?
You can use these kinds of services for your PBN websites on your own risk. It also complicates the whole managing process.
Again, with a little bit of patience and a spreadsheet will help you to keep track of all your PBN sites but IP Addresses for all Hosted Blogs would be the same which means a big issue because they only mask your real IP Address.
Real IP Address can be found in many ways using GFlare Script shared on Github or using LeafDNS or by using the method mentioned on SEJuice or by checking DNS History, there are many methods to find real IP Addresses and google is Billion Dollar company which can do such small things easily.
So this method is never a safe method from my views.
Well, in today’s time, avoiding them would be the best option. As there are quite a lot of ways that Google can actually figure out, you are using a PBN.
Premium Shared Hosting
This is one of the best options to host your PBN. Popular Premium Shared hosting is mostly used by real business owners. And you can use them for PBN as well. Just make sure to use a different account for each website you host.
Footprints
- No footprints at all if all things did correctly
- You get different nameservers for each and every web hosting plan and for every website.
- IP addresses are usually in separate ‘A Class’.
- IP addresses only get shared with real and legit websites.
Setup / Management
- You will have to manage multiple accounts, payments. And it creates a hell lot of manual work.
- It is hard to keep track. (Use a spreadsheet for the job).
- Some cheap hosting companies do not offer you good uptime and speed.
- You can easily install WordPress through the Softaculous App Installer.
Pricing
Popular hosting companies can be pretty expensive. And you have to pay as low as $10 per month for each website.
Are They Good?
Popular hosting companies are highly recommended for networks with hundreds of sites and a team to manage them. However, one of the drawbacks is that they cost a lot. Hard to manage you needed a professional person for Managing your PBN Network.
Buy Selected Host for your PBN Network
In this step, you need to take care of your Email ID’s and data associated to it, you need to keep a separate Email for Each Blog & it should not be linked with any other Emails of your PBN Network.
If you are buying PBN Hosting then you need to worry about Email ID for buying Domains & use a single Email to host your all PBN in PBN Hosting.
If using some other method you need to keep a separate Email for buying Hosting & Domain both better to go with PBN Hosting to reduce this workload.
Change Nameservers of your PBN
After you bought the Hosting for your PBN Network you need to change nameserver, most of the time you would receive Nameserver on Registered Email Address, if using any PBN Hosting provider you need to contact support creating a ticket sharing your domain names in the ticket, then they will assist you with Nameservers.
Go to your Domain Provider Panel and change Nameserver, though you are using for PBN all should be unique.
Install CMS for your Blog Network
We all know WordPress has more than 50% of CM Marketplace and more than 34% of websites are powered by WordPress.
So hiding our PBN on WordPress is safe, now using your CPanel, Softacullous App Installer install WordPress on your host or from any method which you use to install WordPress on your Server.
Install it as same as you, install your Money Blogs.
Now you have successfully hosted your PBN Blogs to start building your PBN Blogs to boost yourself in Google SERP’s.
Below are some common footprints which are left behind while your host your PBN Blogs.
What are the potential footprints?
Having no footprints is extremely important when it comes to building and managing PBNs. However, most of us have no idea how can we leave footprints Google and allow Google to flag our sites. So to help you out, I have mentioned some of the common footprints that people leave behind, and you should definitely avoid them:
Multiple sites on the same IP Address
One of the common mistakes that most people make is that they host multiple sites on the same IP address. Also, talking about IP address, it is a series of numbers which is used for identifying a computer or server connected to the internet.
Although, it is a pretty natural thing that two websites belonging to the same server are giving a link to your website. But it absolutely does not seem natural when all the website hostings are purchased from the same location, similar time, and the same hosting company.
So if you create five sites and host all of them under the same hosting provider and you are linking them up. Then it is pretty easy to understand that you own all of the sites, and Google will flag your website.
Instead, you should avoid using the same hosting account, even the company, for each of your websites unless you are getting some extra features like Network Clustering.
Webmasters Email Address in SOA record
SOA Record or you can say State Of Authority Record is something that gets added to your domain for storing admin information.
And this is a pretty common thing that happens with the traditional SEO hosts and reseller hosts where the SOA gets created for your domain and revels your email address. And you can easily check the SOA record by performing a DNS lookup.
IP Address Owner
Furthermore, it absolutely does not matter if you are getting 15 unique IP addresses if all the IP addresses are owned by the same company. This way too, Google can track down you are using PBN and flag your website.
However, the good part is that you can check if the IP address belongs to the same owner or not by performing a Whois lookup.
So you will get to know if all the IP addresses belong to the same company or not. And if this is the case then it is a clear footprint.
Also, it does not matter if the company owns one or two IP addresses. But a bunch of IP address belonging to the same owner linking to your website seems unethical. And you should completely avoid doing so.
Bad IP Neighbourhood
When you host your website on a server, you are not the only one who is using that server or using the IP addresses. There are a bunch of other websites that are also hosted on the same server and using the same IP address.
And if the server contains PBN sites, then it could affect your website too. However, you can easily see what kind of sites are hosted on the same IP by using a Reverse IP Lookup. It is an easy way to lookup for sites that can be used by You and I and even Google.
Same Nameservers
When you purchase a hosting plan, you will get nameservers along with it. Nameservers help domains to get connected to the hosting plan. Also, nameservers usually look like this:
ns1.hosting.com
ns2.hosting.com
In the case of multiple websites have the same nameservers. Or they are shared with bad sites. Then this is also considered as a clear footprint, and you should avoid this.
So these are some of the common mistakes that people make when creating or managing their private blog networks. However, you can usually avoid all of this by following the right strategy to host your private blog network.
Wrapping up
So the question is. Which is best among all the types of PBN Host available?
Well, I would recommend you try out Popular Shared hosting, or you can try out the PBN Hosting / SEO Hosting. All of them have their own pros and cons.
However, if you ask me which one would be the best option for you. Then I would recommend you to try out Premium Shared Hosting if you are in a tight budget. However, while picking up Premium shared hosting, make sure to use multiple hosting companies.
And you should avoid hosting all your websites on a single web hosting provider. Also, do look for features like WordPress support and reliability. They offer you extra features like good customer support, reliability, and uptime.
If you have a good budget, then you can also go with PBN hosting / SEO Hosting companies. This one is getting popular these days, and they are a pretty good option when it comes to hosting PBN sites. And what they do is that they host your sites on different IP Addresses which vary from A-Class, B Class & C Class and it also allows you to manage all of them from a single platform only. This helps in reducing the work you have to do behind managing all your PBN sites.
Thanks and briefly explained the PBN hosting strategy, I actually learned a lot from your article.
I would be more happy if you implement all this things which i shared in this blog post
